OpenSciEd Overview
Description
A Full-Day Workshop for Administrators and Educators
Are you curious about how OpenSciEd can transform science instruction in your district or classroom? This full-day interactive session is designed for district administrators and educators at all levels—elementary, middle, and high school—who want to gain a high-level understanding of OpenSciEd’s instructional model and embedded routines.
Participants will engage with an anchoring phenomenon from an OpenSciEd unit, experience how a storyline drives student inquiry, and explore the curriculum’s built-in assessment system to see how it supports both formative and summative evaluation of student learning. Through hands-on activities and collaborative discussions, attendees will develop an awareness of how OpenSciEd can impact the way students engage with science learning.
By the end of the session, participants will have a broad understanding of how learning is structured in an OpenSciEd classroom. While this workshop will not fully prepare participants to implement a unit, it will provide insight into the instructional shifts required and offer practical strategies for leveraging OpenSciEd routines to enhance student engagement. Whether you’re considering OpenSciEd adoption or looking to better understand its approach, this workshop will equip you with the foundational knowledge needed to take the next steps.
